Five years ago this small article was published in the Sunday Express featuring our PGM Michael Wilks. Freemasonry across our Constitution and beyond had embraced the Social Media platforms so rapidly in such a short period of time. Social Media technologies such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram continue to provide an amazing opportunity for Freemasons to communicate with each other and most importantly the general public alike who have an interest in Freemasonry. We cont inue to reap the undeniable benefits of these very powerful and highly effective communication channels - enabling and empowering us to interact with a much wider audience and taking our message of friendship, openness, and charitable giving in our communities and further afield to a completely new level. When most of us hear the word “freemason” we usually think of a band of brothers that stretches across the world, a fraternity of moneyed men who engage in strange rituals and greet each other with a secret handshake. These people belonging to this mysterious nexus believe in a higher power and together they share secrets and protect each other. And when they meet at the lodge they do so with the doors closed to the world. What happens at the lodge stays at the lodge. The Master leads the ceremonies, and what he says will never become public knowledge.
