El 2017 trajo consigo un sinnúmero de efemérides: los 500 años de la reforma luterana, los 100 años de la revolución rusa, los 80 años de Guernica, los 50 años de la muerte del Che Guevara... y entre todas ellas, los 300 años de la organización de la masonería especulativa en la que, valga la redundancia, se especuló sobre su “falso” nacimiento en 1717. Actividades académicas alrededor del mundo se organizaron, Los Ángeles (marzo), París (mayo), Ciudad de México y La Habana (junio), Brasilia (septiembre) o Turín (octubre), funcionaron como los escenarios de análisis y debate que buscaron diluir las fronteras impuestas por idiomas, etnocentrismos y nacionalismos metodológicos sobre esta asociación, si bien cerrada y elitista, de carácter cosmopolita e internacional.
